D&AD The Typographic Circle/Pentagram brief

D&AD Student Design Awards 2012
The Typographic Circle/Pentagram
The booklet is based on a circle and will form a circlewhen the booklet is placed end to end. It is called Curve, as it sits as partof the publications produced by The Typographic Circle, and of course a curveis part of a circle.
It was my intention that the booklet would inspire anddelight, just as the work of the designers’ featured is both inspiring anddelightful. The theatrical element to this design encourages the readers toplay with the booklet, and get involved in creating the circle for themselves.I chose fonts that I felt would reflect the modernity of the designers’ work, but which wouldn’t detract from the work featured in the publications.

Curve is an A5 ten page concertina fold booklet printedon both sides.
The main content of the publication is printed on oneside, and on the reverse are full colour panels with simply the page numbers onthem.
